About the organisation

One line

Not in Whispers is a Ukrainian non-governmental organisation advancing evidence-based sexuality education and preventing violence.

Paragraph

Not in Whispers is a non-governmental organisation that expands access to evidence-based sexuality education, works to prevent violence, develops psychological and psychosexual support, and drives systemic change in communities. We speak openly about the body, boundaries, consent, relationships and safety, so that people of all ages have the knowledge to make responsible decisions, can recognise risks and know where to turn for support.

Full

Not in Whispers began long before its official registration - with educational meetings, conversations with children, teenagers, parents and professionals, and a need for a space where sexuality, safety, boundaries and relationships could be discussed openly and without stigma. Over more than two years this work grew into dozens of educational and public events, new partnerships and joint initiatives. On 30 December 2025, Not in Whispers became a registered non-governmental organisation - not the beginning of its work, but its next stage: the ability to build long-term programmes, expand partnerships and drive change systemically. The organisation works in four areas: comprehensive sexuality education, preventing and countering violence, psychological and psychosexual support, and advocacy for systemic change. Our work is evidence-based and age-appropriate, with respect for the dignity and experience of every person.

How to write about us

Name and terminology

A few rules that protect the accuracy of a publication. We work with sensitive topics, so words carry more weight here than usual.

The organisation’s name

  • In English - Not in Whispers, capitalised as a title, no quotation marks; in legal contexts NGO “Not in Whispers”. Please do not use the transliteration Ne Poshepky.
  • In Ukrainian - ГО «Не пошепки», in angle quotation marks («»), with only the first word capitalised: «Не пошепки».
  • After the first mention, simply Not in Whispers or the organisation is fine.

Tone

No scare tactics and no shame. We neither dramatise these topics nor soften them with euphemisms - we speak plainly, with respect for the person concerned. Survivors’ stories appear only with their consent and without details that could identify them.
